Operating on New Zealand’s West Coast, our harbour is susceptible to long period wave (LPW) events.
To help reduce vessel movement at the berth, lessening the need for vessels to leave port during LPW events, we deploy additional ships lines and ShoreTension, a dynamic mooring technology system.
ShoreTension uses hydraulic rams and high-strength lines to secure ships to moorings. We have mobile units, which can be moved to berths where needed.
We also have ShoreTension units that have been specifically designed for our energy wharf Newton King Tanker Terminal. These units are intrinsically safe.
