As a Maritime Security Area, Port Taranaki is a No Drone Zone.
Our restricted air zone includes the port secure area, and the areas above Centennial Drive, Ngāmotu Beach and the Lee Breakwater.
Flying a drone, aircraft, sky lanterns or any other airborne object – manned or unmanned – above these areas without permission is in breach of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulation 101. Anyone who does not get permission from Port Taranaki may be prosecuted.
Anyone wishing to fly over the area must first apply for a permit from Port Taranaki. That request will only be granted if all regulations of CAA Rule 101 are met and adhered to.
For more information, or if you would like to inquire about flying a drone in the area, please email [email protected]
