Moturoa Wharf

Serviced by road and with easy access to two laydown areas totalling 20,000m2, Moturoa Wharf is a multipurpose wharf used for dry bulk cargo and cement.

There are two shipping berths on Moturoa Wharf:

  • Moturoa 1 is 95m long with a berth pocket 8.5m deep and a maximum bollard capacity of 70 tonnes. This berth has a dedicated cement manifold but is also a general and dry bulk cargo berth.
  • Moturoa 2 is 222m long with a berth pocket 13.5m deep and a maximum bollard capacity of 70 tonnes. This berth is our main bulk cargo berth for vessels up to 50,000 tonne displacement.

ShoreTension is available on both berths.

Moturoa Wharf is also home to our fleet of tugs at our dedicated tug berth Moturoa 3.

Maximum berth axle capacities

  • Moturoa berths 1 and 2 – 10 tonnes
  • Moturoa berth 3 – 8 tonnes

Please note that this is the weight limit for any single axle or axle set (as defined in NZTA Factsheet 13, June 2013).

If you are unsure of the axle loads your vehicle is carrying, please weigh it on a weighbridge before accessing Moturoa Wharf.

If you have any questions regarding particular vehicles or load combinations, please contact the Port Works Co-ordinator.
